Treatment Protocol
- 1
Wash only one down jacket per load; if the jacket is long and your machine capacity is small, take it to a dry cleaner or laundromat.
- 2
Empty pockets, zip up all zippers, and fasten all closures.
- 3
Turn the jacket inside out to protect the drum from hardware.
- 4
Remove the hood or the fur trim from the hood.
- 5
Pre-treat heavily soiled areas by hand using coconut-based laundry soap (such as Biomama, Spivak, or Kuban) or a universal gel stain remover (such as WONDER LAB, Dr. Beckmann, Lion, or Bagi) and a soft brush.
- 6
Perform a colorfastness test on an inconspicuous area before applying any cleaning agents.
- 7
Use a specialized down jacket detergent, such as Woly, or a universal laundry gel.
- 8
Set the machine to a cycle like "Down," "Bulky Items," "Delicate," or "Wool/Silk" with a duration of no more than one hour.
- 9
Wash at a temperature of 20–30°C (68–86°F).
- 10
Use the maximum spin speed (use a medium spin speed if the jacket contains a down-feather blend).
- 11
Dry the jacket horizontally on a thick towel, flipping it periodically and shaking it thoroughly to fluff the down.
- 12
Use a delicate cold-air cycle if using a tumble dryer.
- 13Pro Tip
- Do not use powder detergents, fabric softeners, or gels containing enzymes or optical brighteners. - To break up clumps of down, place the fully dried, zipped, and inside-out jacket into the washing machine with 3–4 tennis balls and run a "Spin-only" cycle. - Alternatively, break up down clumps manually by hand, with a hairbrush, or using the flat end of a clothes hanger.
